Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals
The conceptual framework of the MEPAP is “Service Through Leadership”.
The goals of this education program include developing specialist activity clinicians via strengthening leadership, advocacy and communication skills. The program builds from the provision of clinical activity services to individuals and groups as a care giver, to developing and managing aggregate activity department services as a supervisor.
MEPAP1-APC presents an understanding of social gerontology; adult development and growth across the life span are taught as the cornerstone for service approach. Elder care, on all levels, is investigated including regulatory mandates, documentation, care plan development, activity program design, evaluation and volunteer management.
MEPAP2-ADC strengthens knowledge base of human resource development, delegation, communication, ethics in the workplace, leadership and controlling so that it meets the needs of the organization and each team member. Curriculum encourages participants to analyze real world experiences and apply course skills to the work environment. This 180-course structure combines, for each part, 90 hours of classroom training while completing a concurrent a 90-hour supervised practicum, and is required for certification through the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals, and fulfills the highest CMS standard of F680.
